Moored in the sheltered waters of Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island, ‘The Pad’ is set to offer one of the most unique overnight experiences in the Bay of Islands when it launches in the coming months.
Part luxury accommodation, part floating retreat, The Pad is a purpose built vessel designed for guests wanting to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Bay. It features two beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with its own ensuite, alongside a full kitchen, lounge and dining area. One of the standout features is the glass floor panel, allowing guests to peer directly into the crystal clear waters below. After dark, underwater lighting attracts fish and marine life, creating a fascinating natural aquarium experience right beneath your feet. Outside, guests can relax on the deck, fire up the BBQ or simply sit back and enjoy the ever changing views. As it sits on a swing mooring, no two moments are quite the same. Throughout the day and night, it slowly pivots with the tides and weather, providing constantly changing views in every direction across one of New Zealand's most spectacular coastal environments.

Salt Air's helicopters will be able to land directly on the vessel's helipad, while water taxi and transfer options will make reaching The Pad straightforward for those arriving by sea. Catering options will also be available, allowing guests to tailor their stay to suit their preferences.
The location couldn't be much better. Moored in picturesque Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island, guests will have full use of a motorised dinghy and therefore easy access to walking tracks, sheltered swimming beaches and the popular Otehei Bay Café and Bar just a short stroll from the wharf. The island itself is one of the jewels of the Bay of Islands, offering stunning scenery and a genuine sense of escape.
With two night stays expected to be available, The Pad promises an experience unlike anything else currently on offer in the region - a chance to wake up surrounded by water and experience the Bay of Islands from an entirely different perspective.
We can't wait to see this exciting new addition officially launch.
