Elemental by Hanmer Springs is a premium, adults only contrast therapy experience that brings together four elements – fire, air, ice and water – in a unique 75 minute guided ritual.
Powered by Hanmer Springs’ famous geothermal water story, Elemental takes visitors through four distinct spaces, each designed to prepare the body and senses for the next stage of the experience. Begin in ‘Ember’ - a dry heat sauna where warmth and sweating help release built up tension, before moving into ‘Mist’ - an aromatic steam room where heat and moisture continue the process. Then comes the point of difference – ‘Glacial’ - New Zealand’s first snow room. With falling snowflakes and an ice wall, the cold experience sharpens the senses and creates a striking contrast to the preceding heat. The ritual then concludes in ‘Geothermal’ where visitors retreat to their own private geothermal pool to relax and restore.
A complimentary beverage and light platter are served directly to the private geothermal pool, making the final stage a relaxed way to round out the experience. Visitors are guided throughout by a dedicated Elemental Host, from arrival through to departure.
