Coastal Pacific Train Journey Returns

The New Zealand Government will invest NZ$40 million in additional rail carriages for the Coastal Pacific Train Journey which was announced by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern at a recent celebration in Kaikoura as the first passenger train ran on the line from Picton to Christchurch, two years after it was closed by the Kaikoura earthquake.

This investment will allow the Coastal Pacific to run all year round with an additional 63-seat carriage to meet demand in peak season, plus a new luxury premium carriage that will offer more space and high-quality food and beverages to go along with the spectacular views.

These changes are still a few years away, but we will keep you in the loop with updates as we receive them!
