Visit the Barossa and Clare Valleys (Australia’s most famous wine regions), experience the enchanting outback, walk along golden sand beaches and dine on world class seafood at Port Lincoln, visit the famous Flinders Ranges and explore Australia’s historic Murray River.

Day 01

Welcome to Port Lincoln! Pick up your rental car at the airport and make your way to your first accommodation.

Port Lincoln in the Eyre Peninsula is a booming fishing town and aquaculture hub in Australia. From spotting whales off the coast to sailing to swimming with sea lions and diving with great white sharks, Port Lincoln has something for everyone. The region is renowned for its seafood smorgasbord, with shellfish, oysters, abalone and much more on offer.

But it is not all about the oceans… If you are arriving on an early flight, take a drive to spot Koalas, Kangaroos, Emus, Wombats and other native Australian wildlife in the spectacular and privately run Mikkira Station. You can also visit Fishery Bay, once the site of an old Whaling station and now a peaceful haven for the migrating Southern Right Whales.

Day 02

Witnessing the rare and endangered Australian Sea Lions in their natural habitat is one of the most life enhancing experiences.

Set off on a half-day tour to the crystal-clear waters of Seal Cove (optional, seasonal), where the gorgeous puppies of the sea welcome your arrival as they bound toward the boat with their unmistakable glee and excitement; performing somersaults and graceful swirls, inviting you to join in!

In the afternoon we recommend the scenic drive to Lincoln National Park and Stamford Hill Lookout. A short but steep walk will lead you to the lookout with panoramic views of Proper and Boston Bay, Port Lincoln and Lincoln National Park.

Day 03
Approximate driving time 4 hours, 300 km

Today you will drive west along the Flinders Highway also affectionately known as the “Seafood Frontier.” Coffin Bay is renowned for its world-famous oysters and home to one of the most stunning estuaries in Australia. Spend time exploring this wonderful national park followed by dining on fresh oysters for lunch.

Explore a number of panoramic sites along the way, amongst them Pristine Locks Well Beach, the Talia Caves and Murphy’s Haystacks, an ancient outcrop of wind worn granite inselbergs, huge rocks claimed to be over 1500 million years old.

Streaky Bay is a picturesque coastal resort town and an ideal location to relax along the tranquil sheltered waters of the bay at the end of the day.

This is a once in a lifetime seafood dining experience, and the only tour of its kind in the world where you can sit in the water and taste fresh oysters straight out of the sea!

Day 04
Approximate driving time 5 hours, 395 km

Today we leave the coast behind and travel inland through the Australian outback. We pass the remarkable Gawler Ranges; a wilderness area of considerable beauty and the need for tourists to take great care of this unique environment is vital (due to the remoteness of the national park a guided day tour or 3-night tour is recommended, optional).

Port Augusta is situated on the quiet waterways at the head of the Spencer Gulf, near to the spectacular Flinders Ranges. Visit the Wadlata Outback Centre which doubles as the Visitor Information Centre. The “Tunnel of Time” will give you an understanding of how the region evolved. Be transported back to where the  dinosaurs roamed the land, be introduced to the people who first owned, explored and settled the land and those who still live there today.

Day 05
Approximate driving time 2.5 hours, 145 km

A particularly scenic drive awaits you today as you travel through Quorn to the Flinders Ranges. Rolling hills and deep valleys give way the baron and desolate beauty of the Australian outback.

Discover a land over 600 million years old - The Flinders Ranges has some of the most dramatic and beautiful landscapes in the country. It’s a place rich in Aboriginal history and home to a vast array of wildlife. Following the scenic roads, 4WD tracks and walking trails that crisscross this wild countryside will take you on a remarkable adventure.

Day 06

Today you have a free day to explore all that the Flinders Ranges have to offer.

Driving the Flinders Ranges, you will find dusty red roads bordered by towering ancient cliffs and deep craters. Bunyeroo and Brachina are two spectacular Gorge’s located within the National Park. Parachilna is a tiny outback town and home to the world-famous Prairie Hotel and Restaurant; renowned for innovative dishes with Australian native and ‘Flinders Feral Food’ twists, and a focus on local and South Australian produce.

After a hearty lunch return to Rawnsley Park station via the sealed Outback Highway, passing through Hawker.

Day 07
Approximate driving time 4 hours, 280 km

Start the day with a scenic sunrise flight over the Flinders Ranges (optional). The view from the air allows you a different perspective to take in the full beauty of the  national park and surrounding area.

Passing back through Hawker the RM Williams Highway leads you through the vast outback, past farmland and into the Clare Valley. With a winemaking history  dating back over 160 years, you’ll find more than 50 cellar doors between the towns of Auburn and Clare. Five-star wineries are scattered throughout the Clare  Valley; its signature wine, Riesling, is among the world’s best. Spend the afternoon sampling the local produce which includes artisan beer, cheese and chocolates.

Day 08
Approximate driving time 3 hours, 240 km

Today you travel east to Riverland town of Renmark located on the Murray River. The Murray River is one of the world’s greatest river systems. It begins life as a small stream in the Australian Alps and meanders and carves steep river banks until it touches the Australian desert and eventually the open ocean some 2,508km away.

Spend the afternoon sampling the local delicacies such as locally roasted Arrosto Coffee, the 23rd Street Distillery’s famous Gin or relaxing at the Renmark Club which sits on the banks of the Murray River.

The jewel in today’s drive is the stunning luxury accommodation: The Frames. Once you arrive… you may never want to leave.

Day 09

Today enjoy the serenity of cruise into the wetlands surrounding Renmark. Experience the river like a local with a guided tour through creeks and wetlands showcasing the wildlife and birdlife of the region. Visit the National Parks to view the lock systems and experience our unique and untouched natural environment.

Day 10
Approximate driving time 2.5 hours, 200 km

The Barossa is an internationally-acclaimed wine region encompassing the towns of Tanunda, Angaston and Nuriootpa. Wander into over 80 cellar doors, tasting  some of the most awarded wines in the world and digging into sumptuous local produce. Meet winemakers, chat with passionate staff and mingle with proud  locals. It’s a region founded on passion, pride and South Australian spirit.

Day 11
Approximate driving time 1 hour, 60 km

Before leaving the Barossa why not consider an early morning Hot Air Balloon flight over the vines (optional). It is a short drive back to Adelaide to conclude your experience.
